COVID Student Guidelines and Waiver

Sweet Music Academy will begin our first phase of reopening on July 6th. During this time, we will continue to offer remote lessons for those at risk or have concerns.

Parents/students (who are over 18) must read and sign the waiver form before returning to the Sweet Music Academy studios.

Here is what we are doing to help the safety of students and staff:

  • Limiting the number of teachers and students per day (some schedules will need to change to accommodate).
  • Staggering lesson times to avoid as much contact as possible.
  • Teachers and staff will be masked
  • Closing off our waiting area and allowing only drop off and pick up for lessons.
  • Using only front entrance for drop off and the back entrance for pick up.
  • Utilizing only our larger rooms, and several rooms will be outfitted with transparent plastic shower curtains to eliminate the spread of droplets and germs.
  • Teachers will be coached on how to sanitize the rooms and will do so after each lesson.
  • We will have numerous sanitation products to keep things disinfected.
  • We will only allow bathroom use for teachers and staff.
  • Allowing drop off and pick up only. This means that only students can come into the building or lesson room for a lesson. Nobody is to wait in the lobby.
  • Masks or face coverings must be worn by teachers, students, and staff who enter and leave the building.
  • Any student not playing an instrument that requires the use of their mouth will wear masks.
  • Those who sing or play an instrument that requires mouth use must enter and exit the room with a mask and can only remove when situated in the room and instructed to do so by the teacher.
  • We will be utilizing only our larger rooms, and several rooms will be outfitted with transparent plastic curtains to eliminate the spread of droplets and germs.

STUDENT GUIDELINES and WAIVER

The following guidelines must be agreed upon before returning to our studios:

  • Anyone who has been in contact with someone with COVID cannot enter the building for two weeks.
    Students must be dropped off in the front of the building at exactly their lesson time and picked up at the back entrance.
  • No one is to accompany a student into the building unless Sweet Music Academy is first made aware and agrees to make an exception based on specific guidelines and criteria.
  • All students must enter and leave the building wearing a mask. Students are urged to wear a mask during their lesson. For students that sing or play an instrument that requires using their mouths, they must keep their mask on until a teacher determines that they are safely distanced or until the plastic sheathing is properly positioned. The majority of these students will be in our larger room to allow for extra distancing.
  • Students may NOT use the bathrooms.
  • If a student shows obvious signs of a fever or any symptoms related to COVID, they must remain home.
  • If a student has traveled to any of the states that NJ has deemed “under advisory” or those that require NJ quarantine, they will not be allowed to enter for a period of at least two weeks after their return from these states. Currently, these states include: Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah. This list of required quarantine is subject to change based on guidelines and laws provide by the state of New Jersey.
