R.J. Ponce is a passionate multi-instrumentalist and producer with over a decade of experience. Raised in Howell, New Jersey, R.J. is a former Sweet Music Academy student and a Howell High School graduate. While a student at Howell High, Ponce participated in the marching and concert bands, playing multiple instruments, before marching DCI Open Class with Encorps (South Brunswick, NJ) in 2019 on drums. After high school, he briefly attended Brookdale Community College (Lincroft, NJ) for Business Management and Music Technology, where he participated in the Contemporary Music Ensemble (Rock Band). He later graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music Business from Full Sail University (Winter Park, FL). R.J. Ponce is also the assistant producer for Sweet Music Academy owner/director Jay Sweet’s 30 Albums for 30 Years: 1964-1994 and The Jazz Real Book music history/analysis podcasts.
